Thermal Imaging Equipment Hire & Surveys

BSRIA Instrument Solutions range of thermal imaging cameras are available to hire or purchase. Rental rates start from as little as £450 per week enabling the hirer to carry out comprehensive thermal imaging surveys and inspections without the need to invest in thousands of pounds worth of thermal imaging equipment. A comprehensive survey service is also available.

A full list of those thermal imaging cameras availible for rental / resale can be found in our Thermal Imaging section of our catalogue.

APPLICATIONS

Heat loss and insulation analysis, verification work on chilled ceilings, and preventative maintenance in the building services industry can be a laborious task. With Instrument Solutions range of non-contact Thermal Imaging cameras, these tasks can be completed quickly and without the need for time consuming traditional contact measurements.

Electrical Installations

By simply viewing electrical components and connections the temperatures can be checked against temperature ratings in accordance with relevant British Standards. This form of preventative maintenance means that there is no need to shut down buildings and interrupt power supplies. The survey will highlight any areas showing excessive heating so that concentrated maintenance can be performed.

Infrared Thermography & Air Leakage (Part L)

Infrared thermography provides the most rapid means by which to identify unintentional air leakage pathways in a building envelope, although it cannot quantify the leakage. The benefits of employing infrared thermography are:

  • Air leakage pathways present in a completed structure can be identified and rectified prior to subjecting the building to air permeability tests, reducing the risk of repeat testing being required.
  • Depending upon the nature of the construction, even a building that meets or exceeds the building regulations may still be at risk of premature deterioration due to air leakage and subsequent condensation therefore identifying where air leakage is occurring can be critical.
  • Air leakage pathways can often indicate rainwater ingress pathways further adding to the potential benefits of an infrared survey.

Chilled Ceilings & Beams

The increased use of chilled panels and beams in both new and existing buildings has lead to a heightened demand for validation surveys from building services consultants. Using a thermal imaging camera a survey can quickly show inactive areas of ceiling, down to individual tiles or even interconnecting hoses. A report can then be produced that will provide evidence of a fully working ceiling or, perhaps, one that requires some modification.
